The perfect choice of furniture for a modern home
Furniture is an essential décor and is important to pick and arrange them properly according to your home.
The bedroom must consist of a dressing table with drawers and little shelves around the room. It’s good if you have a box bed to store your beddings. There should be a closet to keep your clothing and other personal belongings. The study is incomplete without a big table and a chair and a Computer table. The drawing room would have a sofa set or comfortable chairs. Get a large cabinet to hold your T.V. along with the DVD player. Sometimes, you can place the dinner table in your drawing room too, if it is big enough.
Place coffee tables or bean bags on your balcony. The kitchen furniture would include many shelves and cabinets to keep utensils, microwave, and other necessities. The bathroom must have a closed cabinet for toiletries with a mirror on it. If you stay in a small apartment, try to choose space saving furniture like a sofa-cum bed.
Do you have elderly at home? Design stairs carefully
When designing stairs in the house, safety is a very important issue that you need to keep in mind especially if there are elderly people staying in the house. Ensure that your staircase has proper hand rails as it prevents falls. When installing the hand rail, make sure it is stable and durable.
Take accurate measurement of the handrails so that it fits in well with the stairs. The other way of maintaining safety is by carefully anchoring the handrails to the wall which is possible by locating studs in the wall in the top of the stairs. But ensure that the studs are situated in a distance of 16 inches on the center. Also to fix the handrail in the staircase you will need to get it cut so that it fits the staircase which helps to secure the joints.
Once you get the handrail mounted into the staircase you will have to include another short rail pieces that helps to link the wall at the bottom and top of the stairs and the main rail.
Marble or tiles: Which is the best for bedroom?
In case you are decorating a new home, the decision regarding the type of flooring that you would like to use becomes very tough. Generally the two most popular choices as far as flooring is concerned are marble and tiles (vitrified). What are these two exactly? What is the exact difference between the two?
Marbles are a natural stone that is used to give the floor a glazed appearance. To be precise it is a metamorphic rock of limestone. As for tiles they are a man made product. It is prepared by compacting tile dust together and getting the right look, color and design pattern.
The question however remains which the better option for a bedroom is? That actually depends on what your priorities are. It is much easier to maintain tiles and they are much more resistant to stains as well. As far as the appearance is concerned, you can get any pattern that you would like when you are using tiles. But the natural look that marble adds cannot be achieved with tiles.
