Using Valance Made From Grommets

Valances are smaller curtains draped on the top half of existing curtains. Valance fabric must flatter the curtain or must compliment prominent colors of the existing home decor.

Measure the window breadth wise adding extra for design elements such as pleats or gathers. Determine the length of the valance and cut fabric to size.

Sew the back and front together with wrong sides out. Turn out to get right sides on top and sew the open edge. Now lay the valance backside up on a hard surface and mark and cut holes at intervals as per your design.

Next pass the back end of the grommet through this cut or hole. Place the front side of the grommet on the reverse with fabric in between and snap together to lock or hammer lightly into place.

Carry out the procedure on the remaining intervals and the valance is ready to hang.
